FRESNO, CA, UNITED STATES, September 18, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Fresno Unified School District has made literacy a districtwide priority through its Every Child Is a Reader plan and its 2030 goals for early literacy and literacy intervention. Brainfuse has been named to the district’s qualified vendor pool for high-dosage literacy tutoring, making its virtual K–12 programs available for consideration through Fresno Unified’s purchasing process.

Fresno Unified aims to increase first-grade literacy proficiency from 48% in 2024 to 80% by 2030. The district has also set a goal of increasing the percentage of students in grades 3–8 who are more than one year behind in English language arts and achieving more than one year of growth. Brainfuse can work with participating programs to provide focused tutoring based on students’ current skill levels and the literacy priorities the district has already established.

The five-year qualification covers literacy tutoring delivered during the instructional day or outside school hours. Programs can include one-to-one tutoring or small groups of up to four students, with consistent tutors and schedules developed around the school day.

“Fresno Unified has set clear goals for early reading and for students who need additional literacy support,” said Tyler Bains, K–12 Partnerships Manager at Brainfuse. “Brainfuse can help schools provide regular, focused tutoring that starts with what each student knows, connects with classroom instruction, and gives teachers useful information about student progress.”

Depending on grade level and academic need, tutoring can address phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and writing. Instruction can align with California academic standards, the Fresno Unified curriculum, classroom materials, and school pacing.

Tutoring can begin with academic data from Fresno Unified, a Brainfuse diagnostic assessment, or both. Along with classroom materials and teacher input, this information helps tutors establish learning goals and focus sessions on the skills students need most. Tutors can adjust instruction for multilingual learners, students with disabilities, and students at different reading levels.

Sessions take place in an interactive online classroom with audio, video, chat, a whiteboard, file sharing, and other learning tools. As tutoring continues, tutors adjust the focus based on each student’s progress. Secure dashboards and reports give teachers and administrators access to attendance, tutoring time, skills addressed, assessment results, tutor notes, and other program information.

To make implementation seamless for school staff, each participating program receives support from a dedicated Brainfuse account manager and implementation team. The team coordinates setup, student access, scheduling, technology integration, staff training and communication, reporting, and regular program reviews.
