As a result, many of these businesses are experiencing difficulties, stalled projects, and technical debt that has lost them valuable operational time.

After seeing a growing number of companies that reached out for consultations relating to AI-generated applications, CodeClouds created their ‘AI Project Rescue’ service, designed to focus on recovering or rebuilding AI-built software into scalable, reliable solutions. “Traditionally, you have legacy code that was written for the needs of the business at the time, or is simply no longer easily maintained as the developers who wrote it left the business.
Whatever the nature of the problem, even in cases of bad design and bad scalability, a human made these decisions, usually for a reason, and reverse engineering that to maintain or improve it is more easily doable. Often, even if a business does need to start from scratch, they can both keep using their existing software in the meantime and use lessons from it for the development of their new solution.

In the case of many AI projects, someone put a prompt into an AI and left it overnight. Maybe several iterations of this. Sometimes you end up with something that ‘works’ initially, but is a new type of mess. I’ve seen everything from projects where only the UI worked and the backend was just nonsense to projects that worked, but a large portion of the code was just unneeded and unused junk, created by the AI at one stage and never used over several iterations of vibe coding. The Limits of AI-First Thinking

The broader technology industry is already learning that AI works best when paired with and driven by human expertise.

Ford increased their use of AI automation in their engineering and found out pretty quickly that there were areas where experienced engineers’ judgement was indispensable. As a result, they hired more than 300 engineers, which included former employees, after finding out the hard way that AI can’t drive these engineering decisions, it can only augment them. A similar thing is starting to happen at smaller scales in the software industry, however, the consequences of bad software engineering often aren’t as immediately apparent as a prototype vehicle not performing right.

CodeClouds sees the same lesson applying to software development. AI can generate code, accelerate repetitive work, and help teams prototype much faster. But architecture, security, scalability, testing, maintainability, and production reliability still require experienced engineering.

For startups, this also means vibe coding an early MVP doesn't necessarily have to be a mistake. AI can provide a fast and inexpensive way to validate an idea before investing in full-scale development. The challenge comes when prototype code becomes the foundation for a growing business.
